Sweatcoin Review: Is It Legit or a Scam?

sweatcoin review image 1

Cryptocurrencies have changed the way we see the world. From the traditional Bitcoin and Ethereum, we have evolved to many useful crypto projects that offer you a good value for your money… or for free!

One of those projects worth your attention is Sweatcoin. It will cost you nothing, but you can earn free money, smartphones, and book trips! All you need to do is, well, sweat.

In this Sweatcoin review, we will see if the app is legit, how the app works and go through its pros and cons. We will also tell you how many coins you can earn – realistically —, and if the app is really worth it.

Is Sweatcoin Legit?

Whenever a cryptocurrency project is on our list, the first thing we do is check its legitimacy. Many people have been “bitten” by mega promising scams. Hence the first part of our review is to see how trustful this coin is.

Sweatcoin is entirely legit. The app receives a very high score in the Google Play Store — 4.4 stars out of 5, and Apple App Store customers rate it even higher — 4.7 out of 5 stars.

We have to warn you that Sweatcoin receives some poor reviews on forums, mainly due to people with high expectations. While you can earn money and get paid to walk, you won’t become a millionaire by walking.

What is Sweatcoin?

Sweatcoin coin is a new kind of step counter that lets you earn Sweatcoins for taking steps — the more you move, the more points you get. With its all-new mobile app, it’s easy to track your steps with a built-in step counter and unlock rewards in real-time.

With this app you get coins for doing exercise — but what you do with them is up to you. You can spend your coins on fitness wearables, meditation classes, or gym memberships. Or save your money and keep track of your achievements digitally. No matter how you earn them, Sweatcoins are a fun way to meet physical activity goals.

The app has more than 50M registered users across similar countries, and it continues to grow!

How Does It Work?

It’s pretty easy to set up an account, get going and start earning. Let’s see the steps:

Step #1: Download the App

The first step is downloading the app from Apple App Store or Google Play Store. You can download the Sweatcoin app for free, and the app only requires a bit more than 50MB of storage space which is not much.

Step #2: Install and sync the App

Once you complete the download, the next thing you should do is sync it with the native health app on your phone. You should grant Sweatcoin access to track your outdoor steps successfully.

Step #3: Start walking

Ready with the synchronization? Great! Then it’s time to start walking. Remember, with the free account, and you can collect up to 5 Sweatcoins per day which is 5,000 steps. Make sure you get the most out of your daily limits and check up on the daily rewards.

Step #4: Start earning rewards

Rewards are probably the best thing about the app, as this is how you will “exchange” your walking steps for real money or different prizes. There are various reward options, so you must hunt for a while until you find the reward you’re after.

Ways to Earn Rewards within the App

But here comes the next question — how to earn rewards with Sweatcoin, and which are the ways to get benefits?

Invite friends

The best way to get rewards with the app is to invite your friends. It’s straightforward, and you can grab some good bonuses or get paid a reasonable amount. What’s more, you can even become a Sweatcoin influencer. All you need to do is fill out a form and invite 20+ people to the platform.

Walk 5,000 steps a day

This is the most traditional way to earn rewards with the app. By completing your daily steps, you can slowly but surely get there!

Watch ads

Watching ads is some of the best ways to get your way to plenty of rewards. Since the app generates money, they are willing to share some parts with you.

Complete Daily Tasks

There are some daily bonuses that you can access, but they are parts of the ads. You can watch up to 3 videos per day.

Premium

Subscribing for premium allows you to make 10,000 steps. But that’s not the only perk — you can get access to rewards that are ineligible for free members.

Cashing Out: How Do You Get Paid?

So to start things off, you can use your rewards for payment on the marketplace.

If you’d like to convert your Sweatcoins into a PayPal balance, you can purchase a PayPal gift card on the marketplace or sell your Sweatcoins in return for PayPal currency sent directly to your bank account.

How Much Do They Pay?

Now, that’s when it gets interesting. Currently, a Sweatcoin within the app is worth $0.02-$0.05 to the buyer. So, you have to negotiate a price with an exchange or with another user, but sometimes you can get offers to exchange 20k Sweatcoins for $1,000 PayPal cash from within the app.

Some sources claim you can get up to $0.30 per hour of walking, but in reality, you will get around $0.20-0.25. Personally, we are not convinced that’s much. However, if you complete the daily missions and go outside a lot, you can save up some good money for a week.

While you cannot expect to make $1,000 per month, you can make up to 10 Sweatcoins per day on the free plan and 100 on the Premium plan. When you consider watching free ads and walking, reaching your max cap is more than possible.

Realistically, you can get up to around $20 per month worth of value, but even if it’s less, the benefits for your health are just as significant.

Pros and Cons

We can’t have a proper Sweatcoin review without mentioning the app’s pros and cons. Before you decide whether you shall use it, let’s see the main drivers for and against this fitness app.

Pros

Being so highly rated for both iPhones (including Apple Watch) and Android smartphones, it’s safe to say this app offers great perks.

  • It’s free — we’ve all stumbled across products that promise you a lot, but they all take your money. This app, on the other. While you can get a premium membership, it’s not the end if you keep your bucks for something else. After all, in the worst-case scenario, you won’t lose anything!
  • It’s easy to use — the idea behind Sweatcoin is to make an app that everyone can use. The user interface is amicable, and we personally loved how smooth it worked on my old phone, as well as on my new one!
  • It incentivizes healthy activities — we all live in a very dynamic environment, and the last thing we do is think about outdoor activities. But we need them if we want to have a healthier life. The app offers users a chance to get motivated and take an extra walk instead of catching the bus for two stops.
  • Freebies — from our experience with apps, nothing makes people more prone to doing something than knowing what I can get in return. Knowing that, you must make outdoor steps to get discount codes, free coupons, and even money. Well, that sounds like a fabulous idea!
  • Constant product development — many apps are launched and then abandoned, which is sad. Fortunately, the Sweatcoin team is committed to the cause of always getting better in their offering, and the app’s partners are becoming more each day. Also, developers do their best to make the app run faster and smoother.
  • Daily rewards — you can earn more tokens if you do the daily “quest,” such as watching ads for a couple of minutes per day, but if it’s your lucky day, you may make a good amount of Sweatcoins.
  • Referral program available — The app lets you invite friends to the platform, and for every friend you bring, you make tokens in return! You can even become a Sweatcoin influencer.

Cons

While the app has many virtues, it is far from ideal if you have high criteria. Let’s check the weak links:

  • Payouts aren’t big — if you’re hunting for some magic way to earn free money with long strolls in the park, Sweatcoin will be a big disappointment. You can’t replace your job with the app, as you won’t be a big earner, even if you walk 10 miles per day.
  • The partnership network is still not developed — while the team behind the projects does a lot of effort into getting more offers available, we cannot say there are plenty of interesting rewards. And even if there are some, it will be tough to get your hands on them, as they can get sold out in a couple of hours.
  • It doesn’t count indoor steps — if you have plenty of indoor activities, the app’s activity tracker won’t count the steps you made at home, ultimately making you go outside.
  • Daily earning cap — a daily earning cap limits you to 10 Sweatcoins with the free plan. To increase your earnings, you have to pay a $4.99 monthly subscription.

Conclusion: Is the App Worth It?

While it’s easy to make some extra cash by walking around, there are even better ways to get ahead. Sweatcoin will allow you to earn money and rewards as you get fitter — whether by walking more with friends or family, or just having small strolls in the park all by yourself.

Using the app to get paid a lot will not leave a good taste in you, as you will most probably be disappointed. But if your goal is to have some incentive to leave your home and enjoy a good walk with friends, then Sweatcoin will undoubtedly be worth your storage space!

Are There Any Other Apps like Sweatcoin?

The fitness app marketing is getting huge, and we are witnessing more and more fitness apps, which is quite a good thing. Let’s find out some of the best competitors:

  • HealthyWage — HeathyWage is an online app that incentivizes people to lose weight by rewarding them with prizes. The app works by allowing users to set goals and wager money on themselves. If they reach their goals, they win the cash they’ve wagered.
  • Runtopia — If you’re looking to make money online but think blockchain isn’t an option for earning, then Runtopia is the app for you. Runtopia utilizes the blockchain to promote a healthy lifestyle in exchange for monetary rewards.
  • Charity Miles — If you’re looking to move more and give back in the process, Charity Miles makes it easy to track how many miles you’ve walked or run for your favorite nonprofits.
  • Winwalk — Winwalk is a gamified walking app that incentivizes users for every mile they walk. Even better, the more miles users walk each day, the more coins they earn. It’s a fantastic alternative to Sweatcoin, which awards a coin every 100 steps.
  • Earth Miles — Earth Miles is a startup that rewards you for walking and physical activity — not just killing time. With easy-to-use tracking tools, it encourages you to get moving, sparking motivation and rewarding you with points you can redeem for discounts at major retailers. Unlike many apps on the list, you can cycle, walk, and even run for coins!
  • Freeletics — Freeletics claims to be a personal training app, but it’s really more of an online fitness class. Unlike other apps on our list, it tends to offer the best value to semi-professional athletes.

FAQs

Sweatcoin only supports iPhones, Android phones, and Apple Watch for now. Fitbit is not supported, as there are cheating techniques available that could give users an unfair advantage.

If you’re looking for a way to earn Amazon vouchers without having to spend any money, then Sweatcoin may be a good option for you. Essentially, all you need to do is walk in order to earn rewards. The more you walk, the more rewards you can earn.

However, you should have moderate expectations beforehand. After all, the point of Sweatcoin is to promote outside activities.

If your Sweatcoin app does not count your steps, you should check your smartphone first. In case you’re running low on phone battery, your phone may switch to “Low Mode”, and shut down many apps that run in the background.

The next step is reinstalling the app and checking if your GPS location is on. If you have done all the troubleshooting without a result, you may better reach out to Sweatcoin’s support team.

$SWEAT will be the official token name, and it is supposed to be launched on September 12, 2022. While no one could predict the token’s price, it’s supposed to be between $0.02-$0.06, depending on the market power.

However, it might not be immediately listed on the major exchanges like Coinbase, as it has to pass strict criteria before users can experience it first-hand.
